Hot Fun in the Summer time

Finally the day had come. Hot fun in the summertime. The Vallejo Artist Guild 15th anniversary incorporated with MD13Studio's 1st Annual Fashion Show. The guild was crowded by noon with more than a dozen volunteers helping set up tables, cooking, and organizing for the event. Doors opened at four and the grill was lit. Mmmm... the smell of BBQ made me hungry, but no time to stop, I had to make sure the models were getting ready for the fashion show soon to take place at 6 pm.

The bar was packed before an hour into the show the heat had folks running in and out for more. The event was all around Marin St. From inside people enjoyed the art hung up by Vallejo Artist Guild members. Tables were set up outside around the corner of Marin for people to sit and enjoy the hot summer day. It was an hour before the show, every table was full out side, with people eating the tasty BBQ chicken, hot dogs, corn on the cob especially made by Jeanette Goudeau. Others admired Nell's calligraphy. Inside BJ helped prepare more chicken with Jodi while Mrs. "Goodie" ran around the guild helping everyone with the drinks, food, and questions. DJ Carlos Wilborn was unstoppable, he hit record after record, folks were ready to hit the floor and do a little dancing.

MC Marta announced: "Ten minutes until the fashion show starts, lets clear the runways, folks." While Delvin Wilborn ran around the Guild calling the models to line up, I went back and forth to the DJ, outside and the dressing room. Make up Artist Cena with Soul Day Spa had a line of models ready to go.

At the last minute there was a change of plans, the first designer had an emergency and didn't show up. But Mr. Delvin handled it all just fine. KIDS RACK was the first store/designer up with Miranda in the Cherrie caprice, Carolina in a sporty denim Rocka Wear dress, Mariah in the summerish pink Rocka Wear top and denim shorts was all the way out with a friendly smile and we can't leave out our future star models Pablo and Emiliano. The kids had the crowd ooohhhing and wowing. With Erica Badu playing in the background Idea Clothing was the eye catcher so extraordinary its unexplainable the ladies looked great and fellas WOW! Idea you put it on them. While Anne Jeffries with assistant Ashley with Mary Kay Cosmetics touched up the models make up and Jazz with Jazz with Jazz and Company finished the models hairstyles.

This was already too much and the show had just begun next was Rogish for men though the designers only sent a few shirts the fellas worked the runway in them. Kami Shade - for the strong woman was next in line. While Crazy in Love by Beyonce' played the models were breath taking, Tiffany W., Jacqueline, Kenji, Michelle, Autumn and Keisha W. looked like runway super models.

So far all the models looked amazing and their walk was for REAL! The show took a 15 minute intermission the music was jammin' the crowd was clapping as Patricia C. and Barbara H. hit the floor and started dancing everyone was having so much fun and it was all happening here at the Vallejo Artist Guild. Vallejo was beginning to see something new.

During the intermission the auction started with a lovely top from Helen Lyall, Rocka Wear out fits From Divas Gone platinum and two beautiful dresses from Primavera Boutique. Back to the show, Kards1 was in line designer Rafael Santos had some mad shirts that the fellas enjoyed wearing. They walked through the runway flossin' there good looks. Shan'drea and Char'drea the two teens modeled Rocka Wear Jersey dresses from Divas Gone Platinum like they had done it a million times. Kelly P. was stunnin' in a black cat suit also from Divas with Gina B. working the runway with her looks. While the models walked outside to show the crowd and the photographers took their pictures Helen Lyall models were ready in line. As they walked through the runway anyone could see that they were proud Tiffany W. Took the floor with Cindy C. and Jacqueline H. along with the rest of the Ladies.

When the ladies hit the dressing room they didn't want to come out of their dresses. Before our last two scenes we had a poem sizzling hot by Barbara H. The poem was great, the crowd listened with much respect. Out of the Bay Area came DK360 with hot designs for the voluptuous woman. Finally Primavera Boutique for special occasions like Quincianeras, Prom, bridesmaid, baptism and much more. The crowd hadn't seen anything yet. The pretty little princesses came out with their beautiful dresses Miranda M., Carolina, Kamaya, Mariah, and Jovanna blew the crowd. They were too cute for the summertime. But that wasn't the end Porsha took the night away with the beautiful Katilian dress from Primavera Boutique.

The photographers crowded up to take pictures of all the models for the Finale. They even followed models inside the gallery to make sure they had a shot. Photographers like Vlad, Leo Austin made sure the models had their justice. The show also included designs from South Africa, Ghana that were to die for. The designs were modeled during the finale.

The show was a success everyone was happy, the models enjoyed themselves. Even though the fitting room was hot and stuffy they loved it. At the end of the show we raffled off a necklace by Devon, a rose pedal facial by Face It! A certificate for Jazz and Co. Salon only a few to mention.

The crowd was enjoying the night. But it wasn't over for me aside from cleaning up I had the honor to present a small report for Oaktown Off Tha Hook Channel 26 in Oakland. Vlad - photographer set up the camera and started rolling as I interviewed a few models, designers and CEO MR. Delvin of MD13 Studios here in Vallejo. At the end of the night I was beat, and so was everyone that helped, but it was worth it.

"The fashion show was a success, but as far as the fundraiser we didn't do so well", said Mrs. Goodie coordinator of the Vallejo Artist guild. It was truly OFF the HOOK!

"I had so much fun, it took a lot of work, but it was worth it all the way and I look forward to working with the models on their portfolios", says Mr. Delvin.

This has been a special review from MD13 Studios so you could listen and be heard. And you have just listened to my words.
